Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD / ADD)

Undertaking a Psychiatric Assessment, and making an accurate diagnosis informs a collaborative approach to manage the symptoms of ADHD and ADD.

There are various approaches we can explore, including Psycho-education, Medication and referral to Psychology colleagues if necessary. Do please explore the following resources.

Addiction and Substance Misuse

Addiction and substance misuse are serious mental health conditions that can significantly impact an individual’s life. As a consultant psychiatrist, I offer compassionate and evidence-based treatments to help individuals manage their addiction and substance misuse effectively.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD is a complex anxiety disorder with obsessional and intrusive thoughts, and compulsive “safety” behaviours to lessen the experience of the thoughts and anxiety. A combination of coping strategies and problem-solving skills can help manage obsessions and compulsions. Often anti obsessional and anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) mediation is prescribed too. The treatment process involves active collaboration between the patient and the psychiatrist, with regular refinement of the treatment plan as needed.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Psychiatry can help individuals with PTSD by providing a safe and supportive environment to discuss their symptoms, thoughts, and feelings. With psychiatric care, individuals can receive guidance and support in managing their PTSD symptoms effectively.

Stress and Anxiety

Stress and anxiety are normal responses to life’s challenges, but when they become overwhelming and interfere with daily life, it’s time to seek help. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, I offer compassionate and evidence-based treatments to help the individual to manage their stress and anxiety effectively.

Get in touch to book an Appointment

Please complete the contact form opposite. It’s very useful to have an email address; as this is the most effective means of communicating appointments and sending documentation to you.

Often at an initial appointment, we discuss a diagnosis and a treatment plan. We also discuss the most suitable form of follow-up; if appropriate.

Occasionally, if I am unable to be of further assistance to you, I arrange correspondence to be completed and either refer on to medical or Psychology Colleague or work together to find appropriate clinical resources.

I am unable to provide an Emergency Psychiatric Service, as a Consultant Psychiatrist; but would refer on to Crisis teams in the NHS or discuss the benefits of Psychiatric Admission to Hospital; in the independent (private) sector.
